Podcaster Joe Rogan recently spoke out about the suspension of late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel, who returned to his show on Tuesday, had faced a brief suspension after pressure from President Donald Trump’s administration. Rogan strongly criticized Trump’s involvement and defended free speech, particularly for comedians.

Rogan Defends Free Speech and Slams Government Intervention
On The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan argued that the government should never dictate what a comedian can say. “I definitely don’t think that the government should be involved — ever — in dictating what a comedian can or cannot say in a monologue, that’s crazy,” he said. Rogan also called out “people on the right” for supporting government censorship. He warned that it could have serious consequences down the line.
Rogan explained that supporting censorship today could set a dangerous precedent: “You don’t think that the fucking globalist lizard people who run the world are sitting here going: ‘Great, what do we got — three years? We’ll wait this out. We’ll wait this out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, let them say the government should be involved in censoring people’s speech.’”
Trump’s Involvement in Kimmel’s Suspension Draws Criticism
Rogan criticized President Trump’s involvement in Kimmel’s suspension. After years of mocking Trump on his show, Kimmel received a brief suspension, which Trump publicly celebrated. The former president even claimed that Kimmel’s jokes about him were “illegal.”
Rogan predicted that Kimmel would quickly return to his show and that Trump would likely tweet negative comments about him. “How do you have time while you’re running the world to be tweeting that you don’t like talk show hosts?” Rogan asked in disbelief.
Kimmel’s Joke and Rogan’s Defense
While Kimmel’s comment about Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer wasn’t entirely accurate, Rogan defended the joke. He acknowledged that it wasn’t bad and thought it set up a “very funny” punchline, despite the backlash it caused.
Rogan’s Evolving Relationship with Trump
Rogan’s relationship with Trump has shifted significantly. Though Rogan initially supported Trump in the 2016 election, he has since distanced himself from the former president. Rogan criticized Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and rejected Trump’s claims about the 2020 election being stolen.
As Rogan’s frustration with Trump grows, he continues to advocate for freedom of speech while condemning censorship. His stance on political issues has evolved, making him a more outspoken critic of the former president.
