A millionaire impregnated his maid and left her, believing she wasn’t good enough for him. But when their paths crossed again ten years later, he was overcome with regret — now, she was the one above him.

A Millionaire’s Regret

Ethan Cole was one of the richest men in America — a tech billionaire with more money than he could spend in ten lifetimes. He lived in a glass mansion on the coast, surrounded by luxury… but none of it prepared him for the moment the past walked through his door.

Two years ago, Ethan made a mistake — one that still haunted him.

Her name was Grace Miller. She was his maid. She worked quietly, kept her head down, never asked for anything. He noticed her beauty first. Then her kindness. One night, after a long business trip and too many drinks, he kissed her. One kiss turned into a secret affair.

And then… she told him she was pregnant.

He panicked. Denied the baby. Accused her of trying to trap him.

“You’re fired,” he said coldly. “And don’t come near me again.”

Grace left with tears in her eyes. She said nothing. She just walked away — and vanished.

He never saw her again. Until now.

Ethan stood in the middle of his company’s newest office building, shaking hands with employees, when the elevator doors opened — and out walked the new caterer.

It was Grace.

She looked thinner. Tired. But her eyes… still strong. She didn’t smile when she saw him. She didn’t cry. She just nodded politely and turned away.

Ethan’s heart dropped.

He followed her into the hallway. “Grace… wait.”

She stopped but didn’t face him. “Mr. Cole. I’m just here to do my job.”

“Is it… is the child mine?”

She finally turned around. Her voice was cold but calm. “You didn’t care then. Why care now?”

He swallowed hard. “Because I was wrong. I should’ve listened. I was scared, selfish—”

“Don’t,” she interrupted. “You told me I meant nothing to you. That the baby wasn’t yours. So I left. And I raised my child alone.”

Ethan’s voice cracked. “Boy or girl?”

“Girl,” she said. “Her name is Lila. She’s almost two. She has your eyes.”

A wave of guilt hit him like a truck. “Grace… I want to meet her.”

She shook her head. “It’s not that simple. You can’t just appear now and play father because you feel guilty.”

A few days later, he showed up at Grace’s small apartment. Lila was on the floor coloring, her little curls bouncing as she hummed softly.

“Did you bring cake?” she asked, looking up with wide eyes.

Ethan smiled nervously. “No cake… but I brought you this.”

He handed her a small gift bag. Inside was a plush bunny wearing a crown.

Lila squealed and hugged it tight. “She’s a princess!”

Ethan’s eyes welled up. “Just like you.”

Lila looked at her mom, then back at Ethan. “You wanna come to my tea party?”

Ethan blinked. “I’d love to.”

Grace said nothing — just watched quietly.

An hour later, Ethan sat cross-legged on the floor with a toy tiara on his head, sipping imaginary tea beside a giggling toddler. For the first time in years, he felt something stronger than power or pride.

He felt joy.

That night, as he was about to leave, Grace walked him to the door.

“You were good with her,” she said softly.

“I meant it. I want to be in her life.”

“I believe you,” she said. Then added, “Don’t disappear again.”

“I won’t.”

He looked at her. “I know I can’t undo the past. But maybe… maybe one day, we could try again. You and me.”

Grace’s eyes shimmered. “Let’s focus on Lila first.”

Ethan nodded. “That’s enough for me.”

He stepped off the porch and turned to wave at the window. Lila was there, waving back with her bunny in hand.

In that moment, Ethan Cole — billionaire, tycoon, genius — realized something: he had nearly lost the only treasure that truly mattered.

But now… he would never let go again.
