David smiled politely. “I think this is my seat — 2A.”

Her expression stiffened. “First class is for premium passengers only.”

Before David could respond, another attendant, Brian, stepped in and suggested he “check his ticket again.” Several passengers stared. One even muttered, “Typical.”
The humiliation was suffocating.

David calmly handed over his boarding pass. Karen scanned it, frowned, and whispered to Brian, “It’s correct.”
