The couple called the police, reporting that they kept hearing strange noises coming from their sofa. When the officers cut open the upholstery, they discovered something horrifying inside.

The call was made just before sunrise. The woman’s voice trembled as she tried to explain to the dispatcher that “something alive” was hiding in their sofa.

“It’s scratching… and moving,” she said. “At first, we thought the sounds were coming from outside, but they’re actually coming from inside the sofa!”

The officer decided to bring a dog handler with a specially trained dog. Perhaps there really was something hidden.

As soon as they entered the house, tension was obvious: the husband in a wheelchair held his wife’s hand tightly, while she looked like she was about to scream. The living room was eerily silent.

The dog stopped by the sofa, its fur bristling, then let out a low growl. Moments later, it barked wildly, lunging onto the cushions and burying its nose in the fabric. The homeowners gasped, while the officer muttered grimly:

— “There’s something inside. And it’s definitely not small.”

The dog clawed frantically at the fabric, whining as if desperate to reach whatever was hiding. The officer drew his knife and carefully slit open the side of the sofa. Dust and stuffing spilled out first, followed immediately by a sharp, piercing squeal.

“Oh Lord!” the woman cried, pressing her hand to her mouth.

From inside, grey shapes tumbled out through the opening. They were massive rats with glaring eyes, darting across the floor as the dog snapped and lunged after them wildly.

Yet the worst sight was deeper inside. When the officer tore the fabric wider, a horrifying nest appeared.

Inside, a colony of rats thrived — dozens of adults, along with wriggling newborns, tiny grey bundles squeaking miserably.

“How did they even get in?” the man in the wheelchair whispered, his face pale.

The dog lunged again, barking furiously, but the officer restrained it. Even he, hardened by duty, was stunned by the infestation. The very sofa the family had sat on for years, watched shows, and entertained guests had become a breeding ground for vermin.

Finally, the wife broke down, trembling violently, almost screaming:

— “We’ve been sitting on THAT?!”

The officer answered solemnly:

— “Yes. But we’ll deal with it now. Your house won’t belong to them anymore.”

Only then did the couple truly realize that the noises that had haunted them for weeks had never been imagined.
